IMNF Expands Community Music Therapy Programs with New Groups at Graymoor and Lehman College

The Institute for Music and Neurologic Function (IMNF) is expanding access to community-based music therapy in the New York Metro area this fall with recurring programs at Graymoor in Garrison, New York, and Lehman College in the Bronx.

Led by IMNF Executive Director and Co-Founder Concetta M. Tomaino, DA, LCAT, MT-BC, the programs will provide ongoing opportunities for people living with dementia and their care partners, as well as veterans, to experience the therapeutic benefits of music in supportive group settings.

Music Therapy for People Living with Dementia and Care Partners at Graymoor

Beginning in September, IMNF will offer a free weekly music therapy group at the Holy Mountain Franciscan Retreat Center at Graymoor in Garrison, New York.

Designed for people living with dementia and their care partners, sessions will incorporate familiar songs, rhythm, movement, and shared musical experiences to encourage engagement, connection, self-expression, and well-being.

The group will also provide participants and care partners with an opportunity to connect with others in a welcoming community while experiencing the ways music can support memory, relationships, and quality of life.

Wednesdays | 10:30–11:30 AM

Participants will be able to join the group in person at Lehman College or virtually, expanding access while creating a regular gathering place for veterans in the New York City area.
