The Institute for Music and Neurologic Function (IMNF) is proud to honor Adam Gazzaley, M.D., Ph.D., with the 2026 Music Has Power® Award at this year’s Music Has Power® Symposium & Awards on November 9 at the CUNY Graduate Center in New York City.
Dr. Gazzaley is the David Dolby Distinguished Professor of Neurology, Physiology and Psychiatry at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) and Founder & Executive Director of Neuroscape, a translational neuroscience center focused on technology creation and scientific research.
Through his work at Neuroscape, Dr. Gazzaley leads the development and study of innovative technologies designed to assess and optimize brain function, incorporating tools such as virtual and augmented reality, machine learning, motion capture, physiological recording, and brain stimulation. His research examines both the impact of these technologies on cognition and the underlying neural mechanisms.
Dr. Gazzaley has authored more than 200 scientific articles, delivered more than 800 invited presentations, and holds multiple patents, including for the first video game cleared by the FDA as a medical treatment. He is also co-founder of Akili and JAZZ Venture Partners.
His work at the intersection of neuroscience, technology, and human health reflects the spirit of the Music Has Power® Award, which recognizes individuals whose contributions have advanced our understanding of the brain and the potential of music and technology to support health and well-being.
