What happens when memory begins to fade but emotion remains?
Join us for a special in-person workshop exploring how emotional memory continues to shape the lives of individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. While facts and details may become harder to access, emotional experiences often remain deeply rooted, and can be reached through meaningful, sensory engagement.
This interactive session will highlight how music, in particular, can serve as a powerful gateway to emotional memory. Participants will learn how music can trigger recognition, connection, and moments of clarity, even in advanced stages of cognitive decline.
Presented in partnership with the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America (AFA), this workshop will feature presentations from Jennifer Reeder, Senior Director of Educational and Social Services at AFA, and Justin Russo, IMNF’s Director of Programming.
Attendees will gain practical, evidence-informed approaches for integrating personalized music into care, helping to ease anxiety, support communication, and foster meaningful engagement.
